I stayed at the Scandic Ørnen with my girlfriend this past summer. Though the property is modern and clean and the staff friendly enough, if we ever return to Bergen I don’t think we’d stay here again. It’s too far out of the way, and during our four-night stay in August was way too crowded.
The Novotel Century Hong Kong is strategically located for the visitor to Hong Kong. A five-minute walk to the west brings you to the Wan Chai MTR station. Walk ten minutes north and you can catch a ferry across the harbour to Kowloon. Fifteen or twenty minutes on foot to the east will put you smack dab in the middle of Causeway Bay—or walk maybe a block and a half south to get there even quicker on a famous “Ding Ding”.
The girlfriend and I booked an Executive Room for two separate stays in December and January. It may not be the sexiest hotel in town, but it’s certainly a sensible choice.
Shortly before the girlfriend and I left for our Helsinki holiday I was surprised to see our chosen hotel slip out of the number one spot on TripAdvisor. It has since regained its rightful place at the top of the list; hopefully this review will in some small way help it stay there.
If you’re fortunate enough to find yourself at the front entrance of Sands Resort & Spa you’ll be greeted with a fairly spectacular sight: Just beyond the front desk the hallway opens up to a deck, infinity pool, la baie du Tamarin and, in the distance, La Tourevla Mountain. If first impressions count for anything, we were in for a fantastic stay.
